Storyliving by Disney Announces Plans for New Residential Community in North Carolina

(12/7/23)  Storyliving by Disney, residential master-planned communities built under the Disney brand, has announced plans for Asteria, a new community coming to Pittsboro, N.C., near Raleigh, Durham and Chapel Hill. Asteria is in the early stages of planning with Walt Disney Imagineering and DMB Development, but sales are expected to start by 2027.

The first Storyliving by Disney project, Cotino, will be built in Rancho Mirage, Calif., and Asteria represents the company’s expansion of Disney-branded communities to the East Coast.

The community will be built on 1,500 acres and will include over 4,000 residential units, including single- and multi-family homes, with some sites designated for 55+ residents. It will be part of a larger master-planned community called Chatham Park and will feature walking and biking trails and additional amenities.

"We had an incredible time developing the creative brand and story for Asteria," said Shawn Montague, site portfolio executive, Walt Disney Imagineering. "We chose the community's name to pay homage to the native North Carolina aster flower. We thought it was a beautiful way to honor North Carolina's natural beauty from the Earth to the sky, in our campus of discovery."

Additional Storyliving by Disney locations are under exploration, the company said.
