(8/16/25) It’s never too early to keep up the design-trend forecast for 2026, and that includes colors that are expected to be popular with homeowners next year.
Last week, paint company Valspar revealed its 2026 Color of the Year -- Warm Eucalyptus, a “grounded green” intended to evoke a sense of ease and serenity and to bring a timeless appeal to any space. The company says that in today’s fast-paced world, consumers are signaling a desire for nostalgic joy and comfort and that Warm Eucalyptus meets this moment, channeling vintage palettes and playful color-blocking techniques to inspire homeowners to feel emotion and optimism.
"Warm Eucalyptus is more than just a beautiful shade of green, it's a reflection of the comfort we crave in our homes," said Sue Kim, director of color marketing at Valspar, in a written statement. “Its warm undertones create a grounded, welcoming mood while drawing inspiration from nature and the familiarity of retro design. This is a color that encourages restoration and resilience."
Complementary colors, according to Valspar, are Degas Blue, a breezy light blue with hints of green and gray, and Groundbreaking, a cozy deep brown with gray undertones.
With so much going on in the world these days, Valspar’s earthy tones may be one way to bring tranquility into your home.
